Categorization of buildings on the basis of occupancy
A building structure belongs to a structure constructed by people. It comprises of a roof and walls which rest permanently in one area, like a house or factory.
The following types of buildings are commonly found:-
1) Agricultural buildings: - These belong to the structures specifically created for farmers as well as agricultural practices, for cultivating and reaping crops and pick up livestock.
(Example: - Cow shed, Pigsty, Root cellar, Storm cellar, Granary, Farm house etc.)
2) Commercial buildings: - These types of buildings are fully utilized for commercial purposes.
(Example: - Automobile companies, Ware house, Bank, Convention centres, Gas stations etc.)
3) Residential buildings: - In a residential building, housing prevalents, in place of industrial and commercial areas. The different types of buildings exist considerably among single-family building, multi-family building, or mobile homes.
(Example: - Apartment, Villa, Bungalow, Nursing home etc.)
4) Educational buildings: - This ownership type contains any building or segment related in which education, training and care are arranged for children or adults.
(Example: - Museum, School, Archive, library etc.)
5) Government buildings: - It refers to a building that accommodates a branch of government.
(Example: - Capitol, Embassy, Prison, Fire station, Post office etc.)
6) Industrial buildings: - These buildings are specifically constructed to accommodate industrial operations and make arrangement for the essential conditions for workers as well as for the operation of industrial equipment.
(Example: - Factory, Water mill, Foundry, Power plant, Wind mill, Tide mill etc.)
7) Military buildings: - This type of building refers to a structure specifically created to accomodate the functions, accomplished by a military unit.
(Example: - Barracks, Bunker, Citadel, Castle, Fortification, Block house etc.)
8) Religious buildings: - These belong to the buildings to be utilized for religious purposes. They include a large open interior or other monumental qualities. They also contain spires, towers, domes lifting over the main structure.
(Example: - Church, Temple, Mosque, Pyramids, Shrine etc.)
9) Transport buildings: - These are the types of structural buildings which comprise of the means of equipment required for the transition of passengers or goods on land, water, and air ways.
(Example: - Air port, Railway station, Parking garage, Light house, Bus station etc.)
10) Power plants: - These buildings function as the industrial facility to produce electric power.
(Example: - Geo thermal power plant Fossil fuel power plant Nuclear power plant Renewable energy power station etc.)
