Requirement of Material and Labour for Civil Work


The work will be accomplished based on the following specifications whether definitely stated elsewhere or not. No additional amount in any form should have been incurred until it is specifically said as an item in the Bill of Quantities.

If in any case the specifications are not provided or when the specifications are unclear, the related Nepal Standards or Indian Standards and further rectifications should be taken into consideration as final and obligatory. All the works should be accomplished all together with electrical, plumbing, sanitary and other services and in collaboration with the Contractors of the above services. The Work should be continued unless successful completion together with the completion of other essential services. The building Contractor should notify the other Contractors concerning the proposed program of work before hand in order that no obstruction occurs in the building Work. The Contractor should further work in tandem with other Contractors concerning any facility essential for them e.g. creating holes in shuttering for sanitary, pipes, electric conduits, fan hook etc. But, no additional fee should be paid for such rational assistance and facilities given to other Contractors and the building Contractors should be assumed to include at the time of quoting the rates.

The work should be performed according to the drawings which the Contractor is supposed to study. No extra charge is allowed for any item since its shape, location or other difficult situations, even if there is no difference in the schedule provided that the item is demonstrated in the drawings .

The sources of materials provided in the Specifications belong to those from which materials are normally procured. However, materials which do not abide by the specifications should be discarded even if they are procured from the assured sources.

The requirements of Specifications should be satisfied by the Contractor devoid of any additional charges i.e. the item rates stated should be considered to include these specifications into account.

The Contractor should satisfy these requirements as soon as the Letter of Acceptance is granted but prior to the Date of Commencement necessary for construction purpose.

All internal and external telephones and other communication methods as well as office equipments and other consumable which are significant part of the works should be accommodated by the contractor independently.

Safety Provisions

The Contractor should take liability for maintain the security of all workmen and other persons engaged with the works at his own cost; where not mentioned otherwise take all measures, depending on the sanction of the Engineer’s, required to ensure their safety.

The following safety measures should be taken:-

  • Arrangement of safety and emergency regulations for fire, gas, and electric shock prohibition, along with rescue operation plan.
  • Careful control of flowing water.
  • Arrangement and maintenance of proper lighting to keep sufficient illumination at place of work maintaining exact spares and standby unit.
  • Arrangement and maintenance of secured, sound slings, pulleys, ropes, and other lifting apparatuses.
  • Arrangement of secure access to any segment of the works.
  • Arrangement of notices in local dialect temporarily or permanently throughout construction works at public places. Submission of such notices is based on the type of work to be performed in the area. These notices should be served other than any other statutory requirements required by the Contractor.
