How to work out the height of risers for stair flooring

Once the casting is completed, the flooring of stair is started and it becomes very important to work out the height of riser. In this video tutorial, the renowned engineer Mukesh Shaw provides some useful guidelines for calculating the height of riser.

In this video the height of floor finish level to floor finish level is taken as 2790 mm or 2.79 m.

Assume number of risers as 18 nos.

The following formula will be used to find out the height for stair flooring.

(FFL to FFL Height/No. of riser) – the thickness of marble

i.e. 2790/18 – 15 (marble thickness is taken as 15 mm) = 140 mm

For online demonstration, go through the following video tutorial.
