The number of bricks in 1 cubic feet – How it is derived
In this exclusive construction video tutorial, you will learn the quantities of bricks in one cubic feet. It is found that in one cubic feet, there exist 13.5 numbers of bricks. In this video, you will come to know how it is derived.
Assume, the length of the brick is 9 inches, breadth is 4.5 inches and thick i.e. height and depth is 3 inches.
This dimension of the brick is taken without mortar. If mortar (0.8 inches) is added, the dimension of the brick will be as follow:-
Length will be changed to 9.08 inches
Breadth will be changed to 4.58 inches
Height will be changed to 3.08 inches
The detail calculation process is given as follow:-
Bricks in one cubic feet:-
Size of brick without mortar = 9” x 4.5” x 3”
Size of brick with mortar = 9.08” x 4.58” x 3.08”
Now, it is required to calculate the volume of one brick with mortar with the following formula:-
L x B x H
After putting all the values, the following result is obtained:-
9.08 x 4.58 x 3.08 = 128 inch3
Now, determine the volume of 1 cubic feet as follow:-
1 ft x 1 ft x 1 ft
After converting feet to inches, we get 12 x 12 x 12 = 1728 inch3
To determine the numbers of bricks, the following formula will be used:-
Volume of 1 cubic inch / volume of 1 brick
After putting the related values, we get following result:-
1728 / 128 = 13.5
So, the number of bricks = 13.5
