Some useful construction formulas to find out the quantity of brick in a wall

This construction video will provide huge benefit for the civil engineering students. The video will provide detailed guidelines on how to work out brick quantity in a wall as well as in a building.

The calculation is made on the basis of the following formula :-

Here the size of the brick is taken as 230 mm x 115 mm x 75 mm, by multiplying all these we get the following :-

Volume of one brick = 0.002Volume of one brick = 0.002
Therefore, brick require for 1 cubic meter = 1/0.002 = 500 bricks
Assume, 10% wastage is occurred.

So, 500 x 10% = 50
Total number of bricks required = 500-50 = 450
In order to find out the quanity of bricks for the wall having different lengths.
For a 10’ x 10’ wall having depth 9” we get 10 x10 x .75 = 75 cft
In order to change it from cubic feet to cubic meter, calculation will be 75/35.28 = 2.12 cubic meter
We already know that volume of 1 brick = 0.002
To find out the quantity of bricks for 2.12 cum = 2.12/0.002 = 1060 bricks
Assume 10% wastage occurs, 10% x 1060 = 106
Therefore, number of bricks required = 954

The following points should be considered while computing the number of bricks for a wall :-

Thickness of the wall that will be built up
Amount of openings
Amount of detail in the wall (decorative panels, dentilation or dogtooth string courses)
Here, the thickness of the wall is the most vital factor.
